What Does a Typical Day as a Graduate Environmental Advisor at Mineral Resources Look Like?

Mining Engineering Student

Curtin University

A typical day as a Graduate Environmental Advisor at Mineral Resources can be quite dynamic due to the rotation through different teams. For instance, Rebecca mentioned that she was assigned to the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) team on one particular day. The day started with them going online and noticing a job in the job register box. She quickly completed an easing map and received valuable feedback, leading to some necessary edits.

Later, Rebecca was invited to participate in a meeting with contractors, which took place on level 12 of our building. The location featured a beautiful restaurant and café, where we enjoyed complimentary smoothies during the meeting. After lunch, the supervisor helped the team to create a map form. They worked together step by step since it was a new process for the graduate to learn.

Throughout the day, these tasks and activities took up a significant portion of her time. Additionally, Rebecca had the opportunity to edit some maps further. Overall, a typical day in this role involves a combination of GIS-related tasks, meetings, and collaborative learning experiences.
