Tell us about your PageGroup career so far

I have enjoyed every day since starting with PageGroup in March 2021. I had never considered recruitment as a career path whilst I was at university studying Business and Psychology, despite the realisation now that it’s been the perfect role that matches my studies, skills, and values. I started my career with Page in such a busy recruitment market, and due to this, Page provided me with the best resources and capacity to thrive in my job, whilst having a lot of fun at the same time!

Within my first month, I had attended Page’s annual 2020 Awards Night, in the second month I went on a winery tour celebrating the team having reached their quarterly targets, and by the third month I was being rewarded with 2 x $100 vouchers for having made my first successful placement and for reaching my personal best month. I’ve now been at Page for a year, and since my first initial months, I’ve been promoted twice, I’ve made some incredible friends, I’ve was rewarded the Rookie of the Year award for 2021 plus I’ve also built fundamental skills to become a recruitment specialist in my market.

How do you spend your time at work?

Every day at work is different! My first months mostly involved connecting with candidates and building an understanding of the roles I specialise in whilst also mapping out the market of key clients I wanted to reach out to. Now, my days vary incredibly – which is the joy of the job. I might meet with a CFO one day to take a job brief, and the next day I may be meeting with another to present a shortlist of candidates for another role. I am constantly problem-solving as every new job you recruit, or every candidate and client you connect to, brings their own unique situation. I love that every day is different and that I am constantly being challenged and have the capacity to constantly improve and learn.

What advice do you have for others who want to join PageGroup?

The best part of PageGroup, especially when it’s your first job out of university, is that you get out whatever you put in. If you want to do well and reap the rewards – you can. My advice isn’t to work hard or work ridiculous hours – it’s to work smart. You should constantly be open to learning and developing your skills. In every new challenge you face, there is always something to take away from it, and always something you can put into action next time you face a similar challenge.

I love this part of the role because no day is the same at Page.
