You’ll be closely involved in our investment banking projects, gaining unparalleled insight into high value transactions encompassing both New Zealand and international clients.  

Your responsibilities will involve tasks including (but not limited to) financial modelling and analysis, company research, presentations and reports.  
 
You will work across a range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, and debt capital markets, as well as other strategic and corporate finance assignments. Recent examples of our work are outlined below. 

  • Arranger and Joint Lead Manager for Precinct Properties’ $150m subordinated convertible notes
  • Adviser to Spark on its sale of TowerCo to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan for $1.175b
  • Lead manager on Heartland’s $199m equity raise
  • Adviser to thl on its acquisition of Apollo Tourism & Leisure for $157m
  • Adviser to Precinct Properties on its formation of a $590m investment partnership with GIC
  • Adviser to Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners on its acquisition of StraitNZ
  • Adviser to Arvida on its acquisition of Arena Living and arranger of its associated $330m equity raise 
  • Adviser to PowAR on the $3b takeover of Tilt Renewables 
  • Joint Lead manager for Auckland Airport on its landmark $1.2b recapitalisation 
  • Adviser to Metlifecare on its response to a $1.5b takeover offer from EQT 
  • Adviser to Contact Energy on $400m equity raise to support funding of Tauhara geothermal investment 
  • Adviser to Kathmandu on the A$350m acquisition of Rip Curl, and Lead Manager and Underwriter on associated $145m equity raise. 
  • Adviser to Fonterra on sale of Tip Top ice cream to Froneri for $380m 

Application criteria 

  • Be in penultimate year of study, working towards a relevant tertiary qualification 
  • Exceptional university grades 
  • Demonstrable interest in business and finance 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills 
  • Sound analytical skills 
  • All candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand (including, if necessary, a work visa)
