Culture at Commonwealth Bank

8.8
8.8 rating for Culture, based on 19 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
The culture is dependent on the team whether it is in the office or after hours. My first rotation's team had a great culture. People enjoyed talking to each other when they are at their desks, and there would be waves where it would be quiet and then there would be chatter and then it would be quiet again. Outside of work, my colleagues are open to socialising in work events such as the EOFY party and the 6-monthly wider team party. Some of them do enjoy going out for drinks but that is just some of them.

Very hierarchical but doesn't necessarily feel like it. Good socialising especially among graduates.

Everyone has been really easy to work with and they are always willing to help where they can. Huge emphasis on recognition which I also love.

Within the Graduate Program, the culture is amazing! There are lots of social opportunities for grads and lots of support. For the wider CBA teams, it varies a lot depending on the team you are in given the size of the organisation. There is a hierarchical structure within CBA, but with in the Graduate Program there is lots of opportunities to network with senior leaders.

Lots of collaboration time and easy access to managers and superiors. Many after hours events throughout the year.

Normal office hours (9-5), however there is flexibility in hours. Have 2 days sitting with my team which is great for collaboration.

There are so many events, days and social groups including causes, identities and people that it is a well-rounded all inclusive work environment. There are so many different people from all different types of backgrounds that the culture in some teams are incredible.

I was pleasantly surprised by the work culture.

Office culture is good, everyone is friendly and welcoming. Teams often have lunch together and I have made friends at work. The structure, and frequent restructures are confusing however and do hurt company culture I think.

Everyone here has your best interest in mind and will make time for you as a junior. You are the future of the company and they will go out of their way to make sure you are ok. They care for each other so deeply and we want to get the best out of each other. Outside of hours, a lot of AFL and social drinks are always nice. The people in this office know the best spots in every city!

Everyone is friendly and happy to chat.

My colleagues are all welcoming. We have lunches frequently together and encourage each other to log off on time. I've been invited to events outside of work to catch up with other colleagues. Leaders are understanding and caring and will always offer their time.

Positive at a graduate level, involved in various graduate events and team events.

From my experience there is a more flat hierarchy in most teams with strong cooperation and teamwork. Socialisation usually happens in work hours however there are frequent after work drinks. Very supportive of grads and learning experiences.
