Tenille Smith

The afternoon is spent researching, reviewing client material, and drafting documents. Following on from the initial appointment this morning, my afternoon is spent drafting cost documents and an initial letter of advice.

5.00 AM

I wake up to my alarm clock and put on my favourite activewear set to get me in the mood for a workout. On this day I met a friend at the Strand (the local beach) for a sunrise walk.

6.30 AM

I then return home to have breakfast, a coffee and get ready to work. I am an avid podcast listener and will usually have my first podcast of the day playing whilst I get ready.

8.15 AM

I arrive at work and go straight to my office. Whilst I wait for the power to turn on to my computer, I walk down the hallway and say good morning to my colleagues.

8.30 AM

The workday has now started. I generally start the day by checking my emails and calendar and write a to-do list for the daily tasks.

9.30 AM

Today we have an initial client appointment, so I begin reviewing the material in preparation.

10.00 AM

Around this time I have a morning meeting with my supervising partner to discuss matters and tasks we have on the go.

10.30 AM

We walk down into the main foyer and greet our new client. This appointment is for a dispute between directors of a company, so it lasts two (2) hours.

12.30 PM

After the appointment I have a brief discussion with my supervisor about the matter, his strategic view on the steps we need to take and take instructions on any tasks I need to complete. I then finalise my file notes from the appointment and scan them into the computer.

1.00 PM

Lunchtime. My favorite time of the day. I love getting out of the office at lunch and away from the computer screen. I usually meet up with a friend that also works in the city or takes my lunch and sit on the strand with a colleague for some fresh air.

4.00 PM

I respond to any emails that have been received throughout the day and send any work for review to my supervisor. We generally discuss matters and clients during this time so that we are on the same page for the next day.

5.15 PM

After a busy day, it’s finally home time. I tidy my office and sign off for the day. I head straight home and scroll TikTok for the next four (4) hours before crashing to bed.
